By Laura BerghWisconsin Rapids, Wis. (WFHR, WIRI) – The Memorial Wall was placed in 1996, and is made up of six black marble plates engraved with the names of those Wisconsin Firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Surrounding this memorial are several other features that capture the spirit of the location, including a retired fire bell, statues, engraved granite stones, and a visitor center. The Memorial is located along the riverside in scenic Wisconsin Rapids, making it both accessible and easy to find. The Memorial Visitor Center is open daily from 8am-8pm.
There will be a “Final Alarm and Roll Call Ceremony” on September 28th, 2024 at 3:33pm. The Ceremony will honor those brave Firefighters and EMS workers, as well as their families and loved ones, with a ringing of the Final Alarm, and a reading of a Final Roll Call. You can find more information on the Wisconsin Firefighter and EMS Memorial website.
